A family-owned Wisconsin contractor, three generations strong.

Since 1993, we've built a reputation for high-quality contracting backed by the expertise and dedication only decades of experience can provide.

Decades of experience, one family culture.

Wilsurge Electric is a family-owned and operated business, now proudly in its third generation. Since our founding in 1993, we've built a reputation for delivering high-quality contracting services with the expertise and dedication that only decades of experience can provide.

We approach every project with the confidence that comes from our history, skills, and proven ability to tackle whatever challenges are thrown our way.

At Wilsurge, we operate like a family, not just within our ownership but across our entire team. Our culture is built on respect, integrity, and teamwork, supported by our Core Values.

Three generations, one standard.

  1. 1993

    Where it started

WIL-Surge Electric opens its doors as a family-owned electrical contractor in Wisconsin.

  2. 2000s

    Taking on harder work

Our crews move into healthcare facilities, schools, sports lighting, and high-voltage systems, projects that leave no room for shortcuts.

  3. 2010s

    More than electrical

Mechanical and underground utility work join the lineup, so one company can carry more of a project from start to finish.

  4. Today

    The third generation

Now in its third generation, WIL-Surge is a full-scope electrical, mechanical, and civil contractor serving Wisconsin. Homeowners are served separately by WIL-Surge Home Services, residential electrical.

Why a broader trade lineup matters

Each step on this timeline added work that one company can carry from start to finish. On a commercial project, every separate subcontractor brings its own schedule, its own crew, and its own handoff to the next trade. A contractor that self-performs electrical, mechanical, and civil scopes replaces several of those handoffs with coordination inside one team. The crew placing a transformer pad, the crew setting a rooftop unit, and the crew powering both answer to the same company.

It also shapes how the work is planned. Earthwork, underground utilities, and concrete set up the electrical and mechanical work that follows, and our in-house BIM specialists model the electrical scope before crews mobilize, so coordination questions get answered on screen instead of turning into change orders in the field.

That matters most on projects where the schedule depends on trades moving in the right order, like phased renovations of occupied public buildings and new municipal facilities. Today that lineup spans 17 self-performed trades, delivered by in-house crews working out of our own fleet.

What to look for when prequalifying a contractor

Prequalification is how owners and general contractors confirm a subcontractor can carry a scope before it is awarded. The details vary by owner and project, but most reviews cover the same ground: active state licenses for each trade in the scope, bonding and insurance that meet the project's requirements, a documented safety program, and experience with work of similar size and type.

It is also worth asking who will actually do the work. A contractor that self-performs its trades puts its own licensed people on site; one that subcontracts adds another company whose credentials need the same review. Confirm the licenses behind each trade you are awarding. Alongside its electrical license, WIL-Surge holds Wisconsin HVAC contractor license #1029-HVACCONT for mechanical scopes.

Track record belongs in the review as well. Look at how long the contractor has been in business and whether it has delivered projects like yours. WIL-Surge has remained licensed, bonded, and insured since 1993, and our projects include government, healthcare, education, municipal, and sports work across Wisconsin.

Our Promise

To bring family-driven values, craftsmanship, and commitment to every job we do, ensuring success for our clients, satisfaction for our employees, and pride in the work we deliver.

The standards we work by.

They guide how we treat each other, our customers, and the work, every single day.

01

Operate Above the Belt

We deal with each other with respect. No gossip, no backstabbing, no undermining. If there's an issue, we address it directly and constructively, and we require high-quality workmanship on every job.

02

Attitude is Everything

A good attitude is required every day. Challenges come up on every job, but how we respond sets us apart. A positive approach helps us solve problems faster and keeps the job moving.

03

Character Matters

We do the right thing even when no one is watching. Integrity, honesty, and accountability are non-negotiable. Our reputation is built by every decision we make on and off the jobsite.

04

Always Learning & Growing

Electrical work is complex, and nobody knows it all. We push ourselves and each other to keep learning, ask questions, and build our skills, making us better teammates and leaders.

05

More Than a Job, It's a Family

We're not here just to punch the clock. We're here to build a team and a culture where everyone looks out for one another. Like a family, we support, challenge, and celebrate each other's success.

06

Pick Each Other Up

Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is how we respond: we pick each other up, help one another, and keep moving forward. When one person stumbles, the team steps in. That's how we win together.

Why these values matter

All of our Core Values exist for two reasons:

To deliver the best customer experience, built on quality, professionalism, and teamwork.

To create the best employee experience, where everyone feels fulfilled, supported, and part of the Wilsurge family.

Building something big?

Let's scope your next project.

Preconstruction support, budgeting, and design-build expertise, from a partner who self-performs the work.
